gurdwara: short of cash, the government of Pak rents the premises of Gurdwara to raise funds?

AMRITSAR: Desperate to raise funds, the cash-strapped Pakistani government has reportedly even started renting out Gurdwara’s premises as filming locations, angering the community.
It came to light after a Pakistani online clothing store uploaded the objectionable photographs of a female model posing bare-headed in the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib complex, Kartarpur Sahib, with her back to the Gurdwara. The photographs also bear a caption of a 50% off offer on women’s clothing. The female model wears a red plazo costume and does various poses with Gurdwara as a backdrop in all the photographs.
Sources said that since the Pakistani economy was in dire straits, the Pakistani government had authorized the Project Management Unit (PMU), a Pakistani government department responsible for the management of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartaprur Sahib, to rent the premises for commercial purposes to increase funds to meet his expenses.
Reacting to the incident, former Chairman of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Paramjit Singh Sarna, said: “This is a flagrant violation of the maryada (Sikh religious code of conduct) and is highly reprehensible ”.
Sarna suggested that PMU post instructions written in Urdu on the Sikh maryada in order to avoid incidents that hurt Sikh religious feelings.
“I also urged the Pakistani Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhhak committee and local authorities in Narowal district to educate visitors to the historic Sikh Maryada shrine,” Sarna said, adding that the instructions should be posted in Urdu and English regarding the fact. to cover his head and not to show back to holy Gurdwara.
Currently, the Pakistani government has levied a fee of Rs 200 for anyone entering the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib on the Pakistani side, while it takes US $ for each arriving Indian visitor to pay for obedience to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib via the Kartarpur corridor.
When questioned, the Director General (CEO) of the Project Management Unit (PMU), Muhammad Latif, told TOI on Monday that they had started investigations to verify the veracity of the photographs.
In response to a question as to whether PMU had rented the premises from Gurdwara for commercial purposes, Latif replied “that there is no policy of renting the premises from Gurdwara for modeling, etc. whatever the price. Gurdwara Darbar Sahib is a highly respected religious place where people of all religions, castes and beliefs are allowed to visit.
Latif, however, claimed that visitors were periodically sensitized with announcements to maintain the sanctity of the shrine. Regarding this particular incident, he said PMU was investigating the authenticity of the photographs.
“We assure you that we are trying to find evidence through surveillance camera recording and the results will be released,” said the CEO of PMU.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain tweeted “Designer and model must apologize to the Sikh community, #KartapurSahib is a religious symbol, not a decoration of movie theater “.
