Dear Barley,

I don’t know where to turn for help. A friend suggested I contact you. I arrived in the region four years ago, following my ex-boyfriend. I found a part-time job and life was fine until it wasn’t.

Long story short, the relationship didn’t work out, so I left and bought a used trailer which my mom helped pay for. I just had to pay the land rent. I did not lose my job, but the working hours were reduced. I juggled paying all my bills; my land rent was down.

I just learned from my landlord that I have to pay him three weeks. I have contacted churches for help, but they have no money at the moment. Help me please.

Dear friend,

It seems that you made the right choice to find your own place with the financial help of your mother. I’m sorry your working hours have been reduced. Hopefully, your working hours will increase, allowing you to manage all your bills. I’ll send a check in your name to your landlord for this month’s rent.
